Our commitment: Six7 is built with privacy at its core. Your messages are end-to-end encrypted, meaning only you and the people you communicate with can read them. We cannot access your message content.

Six7 (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile messaging application Six7 (the “App”).

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your phone number for verification purposes. You may optionally provide a profile name and profile picture.
  • Contacts: With your permission, we access your device’s contact list to help you connect with other Six7 users. Contact information is hashed and used only to identify mutual users.
  • User Content: Messages, photos, videos, files, and other content you send through the App are end-to-end encrypted and stored on your device and the recipient’s device.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: We collect device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information for app functionality and troubleshooting.
  • Usage Data: We collect anonymized data about app usage patterns, such as features used and session duration, to improve our service.
  • Log Data: Our servers automatically record information including your IP address, app version, and crash reports.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do NOT have access to your message content due to end-to-end encryption
  • We do NOT store your messages on our servers (messages are stored locally on devices)
  • We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties
  • We do NOT use your data for targeted advertising

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App
  • Verify your identity and prevent fraud
  • Connect you with other Six7 users in your contacts
  • Send you service-related notifications
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve our App
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. End-to-End Encryption

Six7 uses industry-standard end-to-end encryption for all messages, calls, photos, videos, and files. This means:

  • Only you and the recipient can read your messages
  • Six7 cannot decrypt or access your message content
  • Encryption keys are generated and stored only on your devices
  • Even if our servers were compromised, your messages would remain secure

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly agree to share information
  • Service Providers: With trusted third parties who assist in operating our App (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics), bound by confidentiality agreements
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government request
  • Child Safety: We report all instances of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement authorities, and cooperate fully with investigations
  • Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Six7, our users, or others
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time through the App settings, which will:

  • Remove your account from our servers
  • Delete your profile information
  • Remove you from other users’ contact lists in Six7

Messages stored on your device will remain until you delete them locally. We retain anonymized usage data for analytical purposes.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • End-to-end encryption for all communications
  • Secure data transmission using TLS/SSL
  • Regular security audits and assessments
  • Access controls and authentication measures
